Task 3: Be able to plan and structure interviews for identified purposes (radio interview)

Radio Interview

The purpose of this interview is to gain an understanding about people that are pre judged because of their hair colour. It’s a lighthearted educational interview that gives the listener an insight into someone that is born with ginger hair.

Script:

Im here today with Rachel Longley and we are going to be discussing, discrimination against gingers.

1. So first of all what is your hair colour?
2. And is it natural?
3. Are you the only one in your family with ginger hair or are there others?
4. Did you know only 6% of the human population is ginger so do you feel pretty special?
5. Have you ever been discriminated because of your hair colour?
6. And how did you cope with it?
7. What is the most common types of name calling you have been called?
8. How do you feel about other gingers that have been bullied?
9. What advice would you give them?
10. You hear in the news today about how ginger people have harmed or even killed themselves because of being bullied how do you feel about hearing this?
11. Do you feel there should be a law against gingerism?

There are a few rumors going around about ginger haired people so I was wondering as you are a ginger you could tell us whether or not they are fact
12. So the first one is are you a witch?
13. You ever practiced the art of witchcraft?
14. Are you possessed by the devil?
15. Coz I’ve been told that ginger people are possessed by the devil?
16. Are you unlucky?
17. Are you an angry person coz apparently gingers are angry people…

Ok well I’m glad we cleared them up well it was nice talking to you Rachel bye.

Structure

The questions that I have asked in my radio interview are mainly open to allow the interviewee to open up and expand on there responses to the questions, rather than giving one word answers. Each question is designed to follow the last and the way that they are worded gives a more relaxed feel and it makes it seem more like a conversation rather than a quick question fire round.

Interview Planning/Preparation

Here is a screen shot of the conversation prior to the interview. in this conversation we discussed when we would be able to do the interview.
